How it starts: JGL, Rian Johnson and Noir rabbit hole

a random YouTube clip of the most stylized dialogue with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (jgl) playing a high school diy detective in Rian Johnson's debut film Brick .  two strands to follow: 1. JGL films Brick Inception (already watched  500 days of Summer (already watched) Looper (rewatched) Don Jon  2. Rian Johnson films Looper Star Wars: Last Jedi (already watched. this is outlier) Knives Out Glass Onion Knives Out and Glass Onion feels very Agatha Christie, though i've not read any of her books but watched a couple of movies. But Looper was heavily influenced by, wait for it, Dash Hammett, father of noir and that is another strand that i followed (see post on Dash Hamm ) see how it works? i'd like to think there is an art of consuming, to making all these connections but it could just be BS. that my OCD will not let me rest til i follow the dangling strand in the ball of yarn like a sick, obsessed cat.

Dashiell Hammett - father of noir

French Revolution and the jan 6 2021 capitol riot

it started with the jan 6 2021 when the mob invaded the capitol and was this close to vp pence and i started thinking could a mob ever take over a country? what does mob rule mean? kinda of reminded of the french revolution except i knew next to nothing about it ... that's when i decided to fill in that gap in my knowledge.  and i learned that jan 6 was nothing like the french revolution.  anyway this is what i read: liberty or death: the french revolution by peter mcphee (very very dry like wheat, like a college text but gave an overview) citizens: a chronicle of the french revolution by simon schama (good when it's profiles individual characters and main peeps but gets bogged down here n there) twelve who ruled: the year of the terror in the french rev by r.r. palmer onto the napoleon bio.
