What Women Want (2000), Mel Gibson, Helen Hunt. Dir. Nancy Meyers How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson. Hitch (2005), Will Smith, Eva Mendes.  i think that's enough. i get it. the tropes and the formula. even if it's from the pov of women, it's still about the guy. even if it's directed by a woman, it's about the guy.

Japanese women novelists

Taking the torch from Haruki Murakami, esp in the women's pov, which was a bit of gap in Murakami's work.  Kitchen, Banana Yoshimoto Convenience Store Woman, Sayaka Murata Strange Weather in Toyko , Hiromi Kawakami Then all the ones by Mieko Kawakami: Breast and Eggs Ms. Ice Sandwich Heaven All the Lovers in the Night stream of consciousness, i shall just write n write and call it a novel. that's the vipe i get, inspo i get from her / write n write n a book will appear , or slowly discover the book that wants to come out or the book to be.  All the Lovers reminds me of Strange Weather in plot. Young woman, older man. And it takes awhile to get going. Not in a bad way.

Jeff Vandemeer - Southern Reach Trilogy

 so i saw a trailer on Amazon Prime about the Annihilation movie about a month ago and it intrigued me that it was an all-female ensemble. then i learned that it is based on the Southern Reach trilogy, so of course i have to read all three books before i can watch the movie. Annihilation Authority Acceptance and the movie, directed by Alex Garland (dir. Ex Machina) but also wrote 28 Days Later, The Beach.  Movie was so-so, nothing like the book, which was very vague and mysterious and after three books, still not sure exactly what the hell happened. Movie was a bit simplistic, and went the other extreme.

 There are 36 books in the Bosch Universe, which encompasses Bosch, Mickey Haller, Jack McEvoy, Renee Ballard, and Terry McCaleb.  There are 24 Bosch books, 6 Haller (aka Lincoln Lawyers).  Bosch Tv series with Titus Welliver (7 seasons, 68 episodes) Bosch: Legacy Tv series (season 1, 10 episodes). Renewed for second season, should drop fall 2023.  Am i done with Bosch? But but wait.  Update:  Haller/Lincoln Lawyer book 7, coming out in Nov. 2023.  Tv spinl-offs: Untitled Jerry Edgar and Untitled Renee Ballard in the works.
